BAR GRATING

 Aluminum Bar Grating is lightweight, strong, and highly utilized in corrosive environments including the marina industry, food/beverage preparation, water vessels, and sewage treatment facilities. Available in Swaged Rectangular and I-Bar, and Rectangular Press-Locked, aluminum grating offers a superior corrosion resistant alternative to carbon steel bar grating. 

Stainless Steel Bar Grating is available in Swaged, Press-Locked, and Welded configurations. Stainless grating is the best option for severely corrosive environments such as chemical, food, and hydro processing areas. Harmack offers a variety of stainless grating to choose from in many different bearing bar sizes and spacings.

Swaged rectangular bar grating is the most widely used aluminum grating. The cross bars are inserted through punched diamond shaped holes in the bearing bars and locked into place by the swaging process.

This style of grating is both structurally sound for walking surfaces and pleasing enough to the eye for use in architectural applications. We’re able to offer a variety of spacings, including those that comply with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), along with a smooth or serrated surface. Stainless and Carbon Steel are also available in this style.  

Press locked rectangular bar consists of rectangular bearing bars and cross bars that are slotted and hydraulically pressed together to form a rigid, tightly locked panel. The result is a finished product where the bearing bars and cross bars are flush at the grating surface allowing for a greater walking surface.

Usually the cross bars are about ¾ of the way down the bearing bars, however cross bars can be supplied with the same depth as the bearing on request. This option is more common in architectural applications where a customer may be looking for an “egg crate” look.  We’re able to offer a variety of spacings, including those that comply with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), along with a smooth or serrated surface. Stainless and Carbon Steel are also available in this style.  

Swaged I-Bar grating is a lighter, and generally less costly alternative to rectangular bar grating. The extruded I-bars offer the same load carrying capacity as rectangular bar. The striated top and bottom of the flange provide a ready-made slip resistant surface eliminating the additional cost for serrations.
